Daniel Holt
A native of the Texas Gulf Coast,
Dan developed a passion and appreciation of the wildlife and
marine life in his environment. An avid surfer, he moved to
southern California to continue surfing and attend San Diego State
University. College was providing little career inspiration.
Recuperating from a surfing injury to the knee, he began painting
watercolor seascapes. It was then that he announced his
career intentions and has been painting enthusiastically since.
After four years, he moved to Hawaii and began selling his works
in galleries in Waikiki.
At ease painting watercolors and oils, he specializes in marine
fishing and wildlife subjects and enjoys painting nature scenes,
mural and portraiture works as well.
His paintings are in private, corporate and public collections
throughout the United States, Mexico and Europe. He
explains, "I have come to the conclusion that light, atmosphere
and depth define the anatomy of an excellent painting as much as
color and subject matter. The old adage 'I live to paint and
paint to live' applies to me perfectly".
